How to treat/look after a
bruise
A bruise by itself needs
no medical treatment, however, it is often recommended that ice packs be
applied on and off for the first 24 hours to reduce the bruising. After
that, heat and rest should help.
Vitamin K cream can be applied directly to the site of the injury and
herbs such as witch hazel can be used to speed the healing process and
reduce the pain. Homeopathic remedies, such as Arnica Montana are often
highly recommended to reduce bruising and swelling.
Very rarely, if a bruise is so large that the body cannot reabsorb it, the
bruise will need to be surgically removed.
