Equilibrium
is a unique award winning user-led self-injury awareness organisation.
A
committee of 10 people manage Equilibrium. Our main aim is to
promote awareness and understanding of self-injury. We hope to achieve
this by producing a series of high profile short films and dissemination
packs devised with the online community of our site through using the
forums. The web site itself is shaped by it’s users, the content on
the web pages was created for us by our users. If you would like to
submit further information or discuss pages please click here.
Above all, Equilibrium is the voice of its users. We represent their views.
Equilibrium is designed to help educate and support people who self harm and their family and friends. This the first project of it's kind, once completed, the site will have a support board, user orientated galleries (photos and artwork), personal literature, coping mechanisms, directory of organisations/websites, alternative therapies, grounding tips, first aid support, explanations of various forms of self injury, self diagnosis charts, video/audio diaries, and even the possibility of online counselling and/or therapy. We will have training
schemes in place running along side the film productions offering hands
on experience and training on film making, website design,
editing, publicity, and project management. We will place one
trainee within each department, they will be working alongside
professionals and using industry standard equipment and resources
to further their knowledge and employability.
Who is behind
Equilibrium?
Equilibrium was launched as a joint project between Sam Hayder and Lee Mckarkiel, since its inception it was decided that the project would be best served by a committee of it's target audience managing the project. The committee will be in charge of decision making and project operation. Overall management will be handled by Sam Hayder and Lee Mckarkiel.
